Ces deux valeurs donnent une mesure de l\u2019\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019air pour une pression diff\u00e9rentielle de 50\u2006Pa entre l\u2019int\u00e9rieur et l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur. La valeur <i>n<\/i><sub>L50<\/sub> indique le renouvellement d\u2019air par heure, la valeur <i>w<\/i><sub>50<\/sub> la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019air en m\u00e8tres cubes par heure (m<sup>3<\/sup>\/h) \u00e9chang\u00e9e entre l\u2019int\u00e9rieur et l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur par m\u00e8tre carr\u00e9 de surface de plancher. Pour les maisons Minergie-P (maisons passives), on prescrit une \u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019air de <i>n<\/i><sub>L50<\/sub> &lt; 0,6 h<sup>-1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019air d\u2019un b\u00e2timent peut \u00eatre mesur\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019aide de la m\u00e9thode Blower-door (\u00adIllustr.\u200641). A l\u2019aide d\u2019une \u00ab\u2009Blower-door\u2009\u00bb install\u00e9e \u00e0 la place des portes d\u2019entr\u00e9e, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire un ventilateur, une d\u00e9pression de 50\u2006Pa est g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e dans le b\u00e2timent. Une plaque \u00e0 diaphragme en amont ou en aval du ventilateur permet de mesurer la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019air qui s\u2019\u00e9coule, et qui correspond apr\u00e8s peu de temps pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment \u00e0 l\u2019air ext\u00e9rieur qui s\u2019infiltre \u00e0 travers les d\u00e9fauts d\u2019\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9. Les installations d\u2019\u00e9vacuation d\u2019air (p.\u2006ex.\u2006dans la cuisine ou la salle de bain) doivent \u00eatre d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9es. Les portes donnant sur la cave ou des pi\u00e8ces adjacentes non chauff\u00e9es (p.\u2006ex.\u2006garage) doivent \u00eatre ferm\u00e9es, toutes les autres portes int\u00e9rieures doivent \u00eatre ouvertes.
